3 miscarriages and want to be hopeful

Postby lashwish » Sat Oct 09, 2010

I just had my 3rd miscarriage 10 days ago.
It was my 3rd in the last 18 cycles of TTC #2.

I have had numerous tests & 'everything looks perfect' so there is no explanation for losses. I do have low progesterone and have been taking supplements for over a yr. I have been taking Maca, spirulina & coQ10 for the last several months after coming across article on natural fertility info about improving egg quality. DH & I are 36/37.

I have been taking chinese herbs for several months & also doing acupuncture. After my last m/c I have stopped taking chinese herbs.

DO you have any suggestions for other herbs that do not contain vitex? I also feel I have implantation problems as all of my losses have been before 8wks. I have highly sensitive to herbs and when taking vitex & even EPO, my ovulation was delayed & only occurred when I ceased taking the supplements.

This past month I also started juicing as well as taking a superfood supplement. My body temp is very high & my acupuncturist seems to think that is the cause for my losses. I was also told I have Liver Qi Stagnation with excess heat. I was very excited to tr the liver cleanse but it seems I may be allergic to the herbs as I have now become ill though I had no signs of illness prior to starting cleanse.

Hi lashwish,

I am sorry to hear of your struggles, this must be very difficult to work through.

Have you read our page on Recurrent miscarriages?

You may want to consider a Natural Fertility Consultation.

What kind of progesterone supplement are you taking?

Thanks for your link.

It was after reading the site that I started taking Maca and coQ10. I have gotten pregnant twice since taking CoQ10.

I guess Im always confused what is OK to continue to take once I find out I am pregnant as well.

I am taking Prometrium vaginally post ovulation. I was taking natural suppositories but I no longer see the Dr that RXd them.

I have taken Vitex several times in the past, each time they have ceased my ovulation. The one thing I have going for me is I do ovulate each month. I know it can take several months for effects of Vitex to work, but it scares me when I stop ovulating. I am highly sensitive to herbs. My cycle is on avg 27 days, maybe a few days more with Progesterone and I also do not ovulate prior to CD15, if Im lucky usually, CD16 or 17

Becuase you are taking a prescibed progesterone we do not recommend using Maca at the same time.

If vitex makes your ovulation stop, you should not take it. Not a good herb for you it sounds like. We do not recommend combining any herbs for fertility while using fertility medications including Prometrium.

Usually prescribed progesterone is made from synthetic hormones and we do not recommend using any fertility herbs with fertility medications. There has not been enough research as to how maca and fertility medications may react to one another and it can be confusing for your body to use both at the same time.
