Absence of period

Postby bbdreams23 » Sun Oct 31, 2010

Hi Dalene,
Sorry to bother with this topic but, I am very confused about my cycles. Last month after I did the cleanse I had my period on time at 28 days and I thought this one would be regular also since I'm taking maca, royal jelly, ultrageens, fertility smoothies every day and I'm following the diet, but this one has been different. First, my BBT has been up and down, I had two different days that my temp was low ( Cd 10 and Cd 19) and according to OPK I did not ovulate at all on those days. I started testing on Cd 10 and 7 days later no sign of ovulation. Though we didn't stop TTC so, I started taking vitex 1000 mg daily hoping it would help. Second, I'm on Cd 32 and no signs of AF I did a test this morning and it was BFN and 4 days ago I had a strong breast tenderness all day, no cramps just like a dull pain in the ovaries.
I wonder if this is normal due to the supplements or what is going on? It has been almost 3 months since i started with the diet, supplements, etc and why is getting out of whack. Any ideas? I appreciate some answers.

Thanks.

Hi,

Let me make sure this is correct, eventhough you have been doing all the other diet, herbs, greens, ect. for 3 months you just recently decided to take the Vitex? How long have you been taking the Vitex? What dosage? Often times when beginning Vitex your cycle will be "off" for the first few cycles. Why did you choose Vitex? What fertility challenges do you have that made it seem like Vitex may be a good option? Have you always had a "regular" menstrual cycle?

Just want to make sure I have all the facts:)

Hi Dalene,
I know it sounds like I'm going crazy  taking everything, but I am following the guides that are in this site. Well I've been pretty regular with my cycles but after the IVF's kind it went out of whack so, I decided to take vitex 1000mg daily to balance my hormones and get my cycles back to normal right? although i started it like two weeks ago because the first month I was doing the cleanse. Anyway, I got my period yesterday but with a lot of cramps and kind of heavy. I know this takes time so I hope it gets better.
PS: I have a history of mild endometriosis, "unexplained infertility" and three ivf"s just one pregnancy with it.

Thanks for your response, :)

Sounds like you are on the right track. Vitex may take many months to be effective, 6-12 months. The first couple of months you cycle may be different than usual and herbs may cause flare up of symptoms before beginning to help heal your body.

Becuase you have to take fertility medications for IVF it makes sense that your hormoes will be out of whack after an IVF. It may take some time to get back on track.
