Balancing Supplements and Diet

Postby Michelle » Fri May 22, 2009

Hi all, just a question abut supplements and diet. If one is eating a healthy balanced fertility diet, would they still need to take supplements such as Spiulina and bee pollen and the likes? I can understand continuing to take the Baby & Me because it's packed with vitamins and minerals. However would adding the spirulina be overkill? I ask because a friend of mine was taking spirulina and a B-complex and ending up with diarrhea. She had to chose one over the other and then her stools went back to normal. I thank you in advance :D .

Each persons body is different as is their opinion of a healthy diet. If you are taking a wholefood b complex or whole food multivitamin side effects such as diarrhea do not occur. When taking high doses of synthetic vitamins, then there could be some effects of the body eliminating the excess nutrients. As for spirulina, taking too much may cause a cleansing effect. All that is needed is 1/4-1/2teaspoon. If someone is eating their green vegetables everyday and including sea veggies weekly then they would not need to supplement with a green food powder.
