Best way to take royal jelly?

Postby Irie » Sat Jun 20, 2009

I purchased the royal jelly in the honey base with propolys and ginseng. I wanted to add it to my smoothie to mask the maca - I really don't enjoy the taste of that! However, I use frozen fruit and the royal jelly suggests eating off a spoon or adding to warm water. Would I be wrecking it by adding it to the cold smoothie?

Hi Irie,

I think it would be ok to add it to your smoothies. I add honey to my smoothies all the time, just be sure to get it in the middle of your ingredients not on the side of the blender where the cold honey will stick to the sides (it is hard for it to blend in if it is stuck to the sides). It should not effect the quality of the product.

You could always put a bit of warm water in the bottom of your blender with the honey in it first, then add the remaining indredients.

All the Best,

Dalene

Thanks! I have a vitamix, so there is no worry about it not blending in (that thing is amazing!) but I was worried about the cold from the frozen fruit. I really want it to sweeten the smoothie and I find it too sweet to take alone, I don't think I like the flavor of propolys.

Yes, propolis does have a medicinal taste to it ;) . The cold will not have a negative effect on it. The concern would be more with boiling water. You could also take it in capsules.

Thanks! I would like to use it in the honey base and sweeten the shakes. This has royal jelly, propolys, bee pollen, ginseng and eulethro. Do you know if all of those things will tolerate the cold?
