Coconut oil

Postby chloegirlsmama » Thu Apr 02, 2009

I just read the makers diet which coincides with a whole food fertility diet. They and the Nourishing Traditions cookbook recommend coconut oil but there is still a minor fear of high cholesterol and weight gain even though it says it promotes weight loss. Anyone have experience with this? I know it taste delicious, but so does chocolate and coffee (which I can happily say I no longer drink) Ugh what a detox...

My dad just recently substituted coconut oil for everything he does. He puts it in his oatmeal in the am and sautees with it in the pm. He also says that sometimes he'll just take a tbsp. orally. (I think that sounds gross.) He says he noticed an imporvement in his skin and his overall feeling-goodness. It's interesting though, b/ I have trouble changing my mindset away from a lowfat diet. Many of the fertility books recommend eating fuler fat diets as well.

One thing to remember is that cholesterol from an animal is totally different then cholesterol from a plant ;) Coconut oil is great. Everything in moderation though! On another note, we use it for cooking, skin care, and as a base for awesome cake icing. (recipe: raw coco powder, agave, coconut oil. Mix together, refrigerate till chilled and put onto chocolate apple sauce cake when ready to serve.)
Best wishes,

I'm a big fan of coconut oil. I've been eating it for years! I get mine online at tropicaltraditions.com they always have a great deal. I also love the coconut cream. One of the best things about coconut oil is the lauric acid - it's anti yeast/candida.

I have listened about many benefits about coconut oil, that it helps in digestion, hair care, skin care, liver problems, heart diseases, premature aging and many such things that you can not count. Now here I got a new thing that it also help in infertility. Thanks for telling this, we all should use coconut oil if there is so much benefit.
