Hello
My name is Sabrina. Im 22 and married for 2 years. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 9 months as of today. I was on ortho tri-cyclen lo for a year from august 2007 to july 2008. I was on it because I was diagnosed with amenorrhea(secondary loss of menstrual cycle) I have always had irregular cycles. When I was 17 I had a ovarian cyst that ruptured and was sent to the ER. Anyways, I got off the pill didnt have a period the first month off, second month had one which was sept. 08, oct 08 had one, nov 08 had one. December 08 didnt have one, thought I was pregnant took a test-negative. Went to the doctor and found out I have two ovarian cysts. They told me to wait it out, went back one shrunk and the other was gone. I havent have my period since!! Just wondering if anyone else deals with the same thing I am and what to do about it. Im on maca, vitex, and dong quai

Hi Sabrina,

All of those herbs sound great for your situation. Remember these herbs require patience as they take time to be effective. It is important to be consistent, making sure to have a supply on hand so you don't run out.
These herbs take at least 3-6 months and beyond to achieve desired results.

Thanks Dalene.
I have been on the herbs for 3 1/2 months so far, I havent had any 'good' results with them yet. I am going to try the castor oil pack and see if that helps too.

Hi, my name is Lisa, and also have had cysts over the years. My husband and I have been ttc for over 4 yrs. I'm also taking maca, vitex, and had a pretty normal cycle last month but ended up with a cyst at the end of my cycle. I still have pain on the left side and i'm on day 13 and am now spotting. Not sure what this means....i did castor oil packs everyday last week. Should i keep it up??? Getting pretty frustrated....
:?
Thanks,

Lisa

Hi Michelle and Carmen,

Please follow the recommended dosage on each product.

Carmen- have you checked out our page on Ovarian Cysts? Have you looked into reducing excess estrogen by using DIM alongside Progesterone cream?

Excess estrogen in one of the main culprits to causing hormonal imbalance which then causes disordered ovulation. One of the best ways to rid the body of excess estrogens is to stop exposing yourself to xenohormones and taking a supplement called DIM.

Keeping up with the Castor Oil is a great idea. You can do it up to 3 times a day, everyday except while on your period.

Balancing your hormones by using progesterone and nourishing your endocrine system will not only help with cysts and reduce the changes of them recurring but they are also wonderful fertility boosters.

Have either of you been diagnosed with PCOS?

All the Best,

Dalene

Dalene,

That sounds very helpful, thankyou! No, i haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, however, a couple of years ago i was diagnosed with POF. I wasn't getting any period at all and was showing signs of menopause. Since i have been taking herbs and doing acupuncture, I have not had any symptoms and my periods have come back but not a large amount of flow and only lasting for a few days. I will however, look into the DIM and the progesterone cream. Can i only get the DIM from your website? It's just that I live in Canada and the shipping costs are pretty high.

Thanks SO much!! I love this website!

Lisa :)

Hi Lisa,

I am sure you can, but not sure where, checking out your local health food store could work.

You say you have scanty periods with not much flow, have you ever read about Dong Quai or are you already taking that herb? Click here to learn more about Dong Quai: http://www.naturalfertilityshop.com/Dong-Quai-p/pfdq120c.htm

Hi Dalene,

I'm still looking into getting the DIM and Dong Quai to help with my cyst. Is it normal to still pain there while you are on your period? I got my period yesterday, which is good because they are now coming every 4 wks or so, but it's still very little flow and I woke up in the night, soaking wet from a night sweat. What would be causing that now?? Last week I also started taking Bee Pollen & Royal Jelly.

Thanks for your help,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I don't have enough information about you to say for sure anything about the night sweat. Could be hormones. Are you taking Vitex? Vitex is great for painful periods and may help to regulate hormones and level off hormonal spikes that may cause night sweats.

Dong Quai would be a great herb for a scanty period, it is a traditional Chinese blood building herb.

Dong Quai and Vitex can be taken together.
