egg health

Postby Susan » Sun May 10, 2009

I recently saw my OBGYN and I asked him about using supplements such as maca, royal jelly and bee propolis to help improve my egg health and quality. I told him about your website and your claims such as, "Royal jelly and bee propolis are both super foods, which help to increase the egg quality and quantities." His response was that there is nothing that I could take that would improve the health and quality of my eggs. That I was born with these eggs and now they are too old. He said that this is just a quick money grab by people playing on others desperation to get pregnant. Now, I know many doctors are very closed minded when it comes to alternative medicines and therapies but, I would like to know more before I invest any more money into trying to get pregnant. Do you have any scientific proof to support your claims?

Hi Susan,

That is a really great question. Much of our work is based on the belief that your body has the ability to produce new eggs and egg cells. Also we believe that these eggs and egg cells can be impacted by the nutrients you consume, stress levels, hormones, oxygen, and circulation. Here are two studies from Harvard and Oxford journals respectivly, that support these beliefs:

If the human body is constantly producing new cells, it will use the nutrients that are available in the body to build these cells with. The superfoods provide concentrations of nutrients which are made available for cell production.

Herbs and superfoods have been used traditionally by herbalists and midwives for thousands of years to support reproductive health and vitality. They are not traditionally used by western medical doctors, therefore it makes sense that your OBGYN would not be supportive or have information regarding these foods.

Additionally here are some studies regarding royal jelly and be propolis and their possible uses for reproductive health support:
