Can I Prevent a Repeat Ectopic?

Postby becomingmom » Mon Oct 05, 2009

Hello,

A few months ago we found out that we were pregnant, but it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy. I know that most traditional doctors say that there is nothing you can do to prevent an ectopic, but we will be starting to try again soon and I want to do everything that I can to give our next pregnancy the best possible start. I was wondering if you know of anything that I can do to lessen the chance that this will happen again.

Here are a few details:
The ectopic was treated with methotrexate so I still have both tubes.
The suspected ectopic cause was endo, but that has not been confirmed (I have very painful periods with large clots, depression, fatigue and fibromyalgia)
I've been doing castor oil packs and fertility massage for the past two months 2-3 times a week (working on upping that to 4-5 times a week)
    I've completed the fertility cleanse.
I've been taking Zymessence for 2+ months.
I'm taking vitex (new addition - just started), primrose, DIM, Maca, whole food prenatals and Women's Best Friend
I'm drinking fertility smoothies 4-5 times a week.

Are there other things that I can do to help avoid an ectopic pregnancy? Are there things that I'm already doing that I should focus on more?

Thanks.

Hi becomingamom,

Everything you are doing is right on track. Being consistent is key! I think it would be a good idea to find out if you have Endometriosis or not.

Dalene, is there any nonsergical way to find out if I did have endo. That is the reason that my doctor has not diagnosed me. With my tube still healing he did not want to go in snooping around just yet. He said that November would be the earliest he would go in and look. But, I am a bit uncomfortable with the surgery in general because my naturopath says that it could cause an inflammatory response (since I've battled with fibro for a while and it's just now getting under control).

Here is a link to a list of Google searches for Detecting endometriosis without surgery. It appears there is a new test that may do just that. I don't know if doctors here are using it though. I understand your concern, this may be a wonderful thing for you!

Also, I liked this article on the subject: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/besttreatments/2009/aug/19/new-test-could-diagnose-endometriosis-without-surgery
