Stopping Your Fertility Program When Ill

It’s that time of year! Germs are everywhere and feel unavoidable. So, I thought it a fitting time to talk about what to do if you aren’t feeling well or get sick while on a natural fertility program.

Please don’t worry, stress or overexert yourself when you are sick! If you feel terrible, can’t get out of bed, and cannot stick to your fertility plan, then so be it. It’s okay to pause your fertility program! It will still be there waiting for you when you are better.

Sometimes taking all the supplements/herbs when we are sick may be taxing, stressful, and an overload to the system which is working so hard to heal. Fertility Cleansing is not suggested.

The most important thing is for you to get adequate rest and liquids. Sleep and plenty of water are two healing tools that work.

Consider also:

  • Miso or organic chicken soup filled with garlic, onions, veggies or seaweed, bone broth, or medicinal veggie broth.
  • Learn about supportive nutrients/herbs for cold symptoms too (you may not feel all of these are a fit for you, so please do your research)…

    Ginger, Garlic, Turmeric
    Herbal tea
    Astragalus or Maca
    Echinacea and Elderberry
    Local raw honey, Bee Propolis

Chaga, Shiitake, or Maitake mushrooms (organic)
“Fire Cider” or any form of it
    Vitamins C and D3
    omega-3s
    Zinc

  • Eat cultured foods. Experts theorize that about 80% of your immune response comes from the gastrointestinal tract, your “gut”. Probiotics from cultured foods improve the balance of healthy bacteria in your gut. These foods include: organic yogurt, kefir, lassi, kimchi and raw sauerkraut.

In our Video: Immune Health – Natural Therapies to Ward Off The ‘Ick” and For When You’re Sick, I talk more about foundations for staying well – diet, exercise and managing stress – in much more detail.

It is highly unlikely that your plan will be ruined if you take a break to recover from illness! I know it can be a concern because consistency is important, but we all get sick sometimes and need to allow our body to naturally cope and heal. Allow yourself the time and space for healing!

With that, if you are on a medicated cycle, do check in with your doctor or his/her nurse if you feel you can’t take the medication. Do not just stop the medication.

When you find that you are beginning to feel better you can then pick up your fertility plan again.

Be well!
