Foods to avoid when trying to get pregnant…. 🍬🍞🥫

1️⃣ Foods with added sugars

Candy, donuts, soda, sugary drinks, sugary foods.

FRUIT IS NOT WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.

Fruit has naturally occurring sugars that are totally different from processed foods with added sugars.

2️⃣ Fried foods

Stay away from fried foods which cause inflammation, low nutritional value and can cause inflammation.

3️⃣ Chronic stress

When the body has high levels of cortisone the reproductive system will be the first system that stops getting resources.

Take daily steps to help reduce stress and lower chronic stress.

Some of my favorite stress reducing activities are:

💗 Meditation
💗 Massage
💗 Exercise
💗 EFT
💗 Breathwork
💗 Therapeutic essential oils such as lavender
💗 Therapy
💗 Hot baths
💗 Nature walks
💗 Earthing

🌱 One of my favorite ways to support fertility and hormone health is through herbs.

Over the past 20+ years that I have been an herbalist I have seen what herbs can do to help turn someone’s health around.

When it comes to fertility there are a lot of different herbs that you can use. But they all have different actions. There is no one herb that fits all for fertility.

That is one of the reasons I make herbal blends & formulas.

Three of my favorite herbs are vitex, maca and shatavari, but they each have different effects on the body.

So the key to success with fertility herbs is to first figure out what is going on in your body and then you can pick the right herbal formula for you.

You can do this by charting your fertility (I have a lot of posts about fertility charting on my feed as well as my website) and also paying attention to your period. 🩸

🥚 In the past, a common belief was that the only factor which determines ovarian and egg health was age.

Based on new studies, we now know that this may not be true. 🤯

There are many factors that can have an impact on the health of the ovaries and eggs including environmental factors, hormones in the diet, and stress, just to name a few.

In addition, having healthy fertility is based on many additional aspects to consider, including:
➡️ Proper circulation
➡️ A healthy fertility cycle
➡️ Balanced hormones
➡️ Healthy eggs

Egg health is one of the cornerstones of healthy fertility.

The health of your eggs (ova) can affect whether or not fertilization and implantation will occur as well as the viability of a pregnancy.

During the cycle of an egg’s journey towards ovulation, there is a window of opportunity, a period of time, when certain factors can affect the health of the eggs that are preparing for ovulation. ⏳

This journey takes about 90 days.

The steps you take today will impact the health of your eggs 3 months from now.

That is why I talk so much about taking a MINIMUM of 90 days to prepare for pregnancy or IVF/IUI.

The answer is YES. The menstruation phase of a monthly fertility cycle is only one stage of the cycle.

There are many other times of the month that are even more important like:

🌸 Follicular phase: When the lining is growing and follicles are maturing

🌸 Ovulation: When the egg is released

🌸 Implantation: When the fertilized egg implants

🌸 Luteal phase: The time period between ovulation and the next cycle needs to be long enough for implantation to occur.

Preparing for pregnancy is one of the best steps you can take for a healthy pregnancy and child. Here are some steps to help you get started…. 👇

Fiber helps the body to get rid of excess hormones and fruits and veggies are packed with fiber. They also are very hydrating and have lots of nutrients. All are useful for someone with heavy cycles.

2️⃣ Learn about your fertility cycle through tracking and charting

Fertility charting will help you to understand your current hormonal state, when or if you are ovulating and other information about your cycle that will help to bring clarity to your fertility path.

If you’re dealing with a heavy period, ask yourself, “Is this just one cycle? Or has this been going on for a long time?”

If you’re frequently nonstop bleeding for more than seven days of your cycle, you should go see your doctor. This level of heavy bleeding can become dangerous and could even cause anemia.

This post is geared for more “normal” heavy bleeding – meaning you bleed for five to seven days per cycle. But after that, it stops.

👇 How to support your fertility after coming off birth control 👇

1️⃣ Nourish and Cleanse
The body may greatly benefit from some gentle cleansing of the liver and uterus when coming off birth control. The liver has to metabolize synthetic hormones and becomes overloaded and taxed during birth control use. The liver cleanse portion of the Fertility Cleanse helps to remove those excess hormones.

Eating a whole food, nutrient dense fertility diet has been shown to increase the chances of pregnancy. Because hormones in birth control may affect our metabolism, digestion, and nutritional levels, eating properly is going to be very important when on birth control as well as afterward to replenish depleted nutritional levels.
Use of birth control containing hormones affects the levels of folic acid, riboflavin (vitamin.B2), vitamin B6, vitamin B12, vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc. It would be wise to take a good whole food multivitamin during and after birth control use to prevent nutritional deficiency and restore already depleted levels.

➡️ Women using birth control consistently for 6 months or longer have been shown to have significantly lower levels of tryptophan; vitamin B6 supplements can help normalize tryptophan metabolism.
Prolonged use of hormone-containing birth control may also lead to anemia so you may also want to consider taking a wholefood iron supplement.
2️⃣ Herbal Support for Hormonal Balance and Ovulation
Restoring a natural menstrual cycle is also important for egg health. Hormonal birth controls prevents ovulation, which can decrease egg health. Our follicles require a normalized release of our natural hormones and adequate nutritional levels; synthetic hormones disrupt these which may impact egg health.
