Number of years trying to get pregnant?: 2
What was your fertility journey prior to finding Natural-Fertility-Info.com and the NaturalFertilityShop.com?:
It took us one year and a visit to our doctor to become pregnant with our first daughter in 2016. During that year of trying, I learned that I had a shorter luteal phase (12 days) after using a tracking app and ovulation sticks. I also had painful periods and lots of clotting during my period, but thought that those were “normal.” Our doctor didn’t really think that a short luteal phase was a real thing but prescribed progesterone just to appease me. That worked, and I was pregnant within one cycle of trying it. I gave birth to my first daughter in September of 2017.
Fast forward a year after my daughter was born, and we were ready to try for another baby. I figured I would need the progesterone again, and followed up with my doctor fairly early in the trying process. My luteal phase was much shorter this go around (approximately 8-9 days) and I hoped that progesterone would do the trick. For the next year we tried combinations of progesterone, Clomid, injectables, and insemination. Nothing worked. My FSH was on the higher side for my age (over 12) and my AMH was on the lower side (close to 1). The doctor told me she thought that I probably had premature ovarian failure and gave me a 3% chance of conceiving naturally. She pushed IVF. I was open to going down that road but my husband wasn’t.
I started panicking because after a year with the doctor, our options there were running out. I started looking for natural options. I always considered myself to be healthy and was running a lot (over 35 miles a week) and doing other intense exercise. I decided to tone down the intense working out and embraced yoga. I began eating a more plant based diet and eliminated gluten and dairy from my diet.
In September of 2019, I found the Natural Fertility site. I was intrigued by all of the success stories. I booked a consult with Marija Helt. She was amazing. She was so informative and gave me hope that a natural pregnancy was possible. I followed all of her recommendations and started taking Vitex, Maca, DIM, Dong Quai, Royal jelly, fish pill, and CoQ10. I kept to my new diet and continued with yoga. I noticed changes in my cycle almost immediately. My luteal phase lengthened (first to 11 days, then to 12 and then 13), my periods became less painful, and I noticed that there was much less clotting during my periods.
I became hopeful. In January of 2020, my luteal phase got to 14 days, I couldn’t believe it. When it turned to 15 days I became worried that the supplements were now taking me in the other direction. I decided to take a pregnancy test but didn’t think we were there yet … well I was wrong! Much to my amazement, four months after starting my supplements, I was pregnant.
I’m now 22 weeks along with another little girl. We just had our anatomy scan and she is growing and healthy. I still can’t believe it!
What information and products made the difference for you?:
The consultation with Marija was so informative. After talking with her, I came to see that my body was estrogen dominant and progesterone deficient. The combo of Vitex, Maca, Royal jelly, CoQ10, Dong Quai and DIM in combination with a plant based diet, no dairy and no gluten really balanced me and gave me a healthy cycle.
What changes and benefits did you experience from taking the products?:
I immediately noticed my luteal phase lengthened, my periods were not as painful, and there was much less clotting during my periods.
What is some advice you would give others going through their fertility journey?:
Don’t lose hope. Doctors will try to push IVF and while that may be necessary in some circumstances, it isn’t in all. Try the natural route, be patient, and you just might surprise yourself.
How are you and your baby doing now? How old is your baby now?:
Our daughter is due in September 2020.
