How to Use Self Fertility Massage™ to Boost Your Chances of Conception

How to Use Self Fertility Massage™ to Boost Your Chances of Conception

Self Fertility Massage™ is a series of massage techniques that are used to help support reproductive health, the menstrual cycle, and your fertility. I created this natural fertility therapy to help women apply the fertility massage techniques for themselves. Self Fertility Massage™ is a very effective and low-cost way to boost your fertility naturally and help reduce the effects of fertility issues on your body.

I have worked with thousands of clients as a massage therapist over the last decade and have seen many life changing results from the use of massage therapy. The techniques taught in Self Fertility Massage™ help the body to become balanced, have healthy circulation, increase immune system health, decrease stress, and much much more.

The Benefits of Self Fertility Massage™

There are many reproductive benefits to receiving fertility massage.

Regularly receiving fertility massage provides many benefits for the reproductive system. Some of the benefits are:

  • Helps to reposition a tilted uterus
  • Promotes hormonal balance
  • Massage helps to break up scar tissue
  • Helps to bring fresh blood to the uterus
  • Helps to reduce stress & stress hormones
  • Increases circulation to the uterus & cervix
  • Improves endocrine system communication
  • Encourages the liver to get rid of excess hormones
  • Promotes hormonal balance by strengthening the hormonal feedback loop
  • Helps the body to rid itself of old stagnant blood and tissues

Two prominent studies from 1998 and 2003 led by Physical Therapist Belinda Wurn and her husband, Massage Therapist Larry Wurn, set out to evaluate the effectiveness of manual soft-tissue therapy including massage in treating women with infertility* who were known to have adhesions in their abdomen/pelvic area, and concluded that “site-specific protocol of manual soft-tissue therapy facilitates fertility in women with a wide array of adhesion-related infertility and biomechanical reproductive organ dysfunction.”

*The studies included women who are experiencing or have experienced pelvic pain, adhesions, bicornuate uterus, D&C, ectopic pregnancy, fibroids, failure to ovulate (an ovulation), hydrosalpinx, irregular menstrual periods, hormonal problems, tubal occlusion, ovarian cystectomy, myomectomy, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, etc. (the list is much longer than this).

By now you can see that using massage therapy to help your fertility is very beneficial. There are many issues that fertility massage may be able to help. Take the quiz below and see if Self Fertility Massage™ is right for you…

Can Self Fertility Massage™ Help with Fertility Issues?

There are many fertility issues that Self Fertility Massage™ can assist with. Some of these fertility issues are:

Blocked Fallopian Tubes

One of the greatest benefits of massage is the ability to break up adhesions. Self Fertility Massage™ gently helps to break up adhesions while helping the body to get rid of the remaining scar tissue. The techniques used in Self Fertility Massage include massaging the fallopian tubes in addition to the uterus and ovaries. Massage provides a great non-intrusive option for women with blocked fallopian tubes.

Self Fertility Massage™ helps the body with congestive issues like endometriosis. When endometrial tissues begin to grow in other areas of the body besides the uterus, irritation occurs which then can create scar tissue. This in turn can cause organs to begin to become stuck together by the scar tissue and tight fascia. It may also cause Fallopian tubes to begin to twist. Massage can be used to help breakup the adhesions, decrease the inflammation, and help the body to rid itself of the old blood left from the endometrial tissues.

Self Fertility Massage™ may also help with the occasional pain that is caused from endometriosis. Endorphins are released during a massage which help to reduce pain and stress.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome is another fertility issue that causes stagnation in the body. When ovulation does not occur and a cysts begins to grow on the ovaries, this causes a series of imbalances to occur, one of the main ones being hormonal imbalance. Self Fertility Massage™ includes techniques which promote the hormonal feedback loop to communicate fully which in turn helps the body to ovulate, menstruate, and be in balance. Massage also can help to bring circulation to the ovaries, helping to nourish and bring fresh blood to your eggs. While diet is still the #1 therapy for PCOS, Self Fertility Massage™ can really help to make a difference.

Unexplained Infertility

When it comes to unexplained infertility, the best approach is to focus on creating a healthy body, a healthy mind, and bringing balance to your life. This approach helps to cover all bases and create a healthy body without causing further harm. Self Fertility Massage™ can be helpful in many ways if you are experiencing unexplained infertility. The techniques help to increase circulation which in turn helps to increase egg health by bringing fresh oxygenated, nutrient filled blood to the eggs. Self Fertility Massage™ also helps with stress that comes along with infertility. Stress has been shown in studies to affect hormonal balance by increasing prolactin (the hormone that keeps you from getting pregnant while you are breastfeeding).

Ovarian Cysts

One of the main benefits of Self Fertility Massage™ is that it increases circulation to the ovaries. This can be helpful if you have ovarian cysts by helping to clear out congestion, reduce inflammation, and promote hormonal balance. In conjunction with reducing environmental and dietary estrogen, Self Fertility Massage™ should be a part of every woman’s fertility program.

Slight caution: Avoid directly massaging an ovary that has an ovarian cyst, especially if the ovarian cyst is quite large.

Menstrual Cramps

Do you get cramps every menstrual cycle? While there are many different causes of menstrual cramps, massage may help most of them. Let’s look at a few of the reasons menstrual cramps occur:

  • The uterus is contracting to expel old blood
  • A “cold uterus” – This is a term used in TCM which means a uterus that is lacking proper circulation.
  • Scar tissue left from surgery, PID, or endometriosis may cause a lot of pain when the uterus contracts during menstruation.
  • Nutritional deficiencies have been shown to effect PMS and menstrual cramps.
  • Tilted uterus

A 2000 study in the Journal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology, shares that “Twenty-four women with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PDD) were randomly assigned to a massage therapy or a relaxation therapy group. The massage group showed decreases in anxiety, depressed mood and pain immediately after the first and last massage sessions. The longer term (5 week) effects of massage therapy included a reduction in pain and water retention and overall menstrual distress…” offering enough proof to suggest massage therapy as part of natural fertility program for women experiencing any level of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

The Reproductive SystemSelf Fertility Massage™ encourages a healthy uterus by helping to realign a tilted uterus, increase circulation to warm a “cold uterus” by bringing in nutrient-rich blood, and breaking up scar tissue and adhesion in order to improve uterine tone and function.

Hormonal Imbalances

Massage encourages healthy communication between the pituitary gland, the hypothalamus, and the ovaries. This is called the “feedback loop”. It controls the levels of hormones produced in the body. By massaging the ovaries and including the stress-relieving benefits of massage, a healthier balance can be found in the body. In Self Fertility Massage™ the liver is also massaged, which is another important organ for hormonal balance.

Improving Egg Health

One of the foundations of natural fertility is promoting egg health through eating nutrient-dense foods and antioxidants which help to protect the egg’s integrity from free radicals. Another important aspect to egg health is proper oxygen, nutrients, and circulation. Self Fertility Massage™ helps to bring much needed circulation to the ovaries, therefore, supplying the eggs with oxygen and antioxidants.

Stress Caused from Fertility Issues

While trying to stay stress free during your journey towards motherhood is important, it can sometimes seem impossible. Co-director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles Margareta Pisarska believes that continued focus of research needs to be on how conception can be interfered with by the physiological effects of stress.

Self Fertility Massage™ is a very relaxing routine that you can also use as a stress-relieving therapy. While you are receiving a massage, the body begins to relax, blood flow increases, endorphins (feel good hormones) release, and muscles let go. Making Self Fertility Massage™ a part of your routine can bring a peace to your day that is priceless.

In one study published in the journal Human Reproduction, 401 couples participated in a prospective cohort study over 12 months with the intent to prove the correlation between elevated stress levels and instances of pregnancy. “Higher levels of stress as measured by salivary alpha-amylase are associated with a longer time-to-pregnancy (TTP) and an increased risk of infertility… Among the 401 (80%) women who completed the protocol, 347 (87%) became pregnant and 54 (13%) did not,” reported researchers. These findings alone prove stress management techniques, which include massage, are a much needed part of any couple’s fertility journey.

Poor circulation

Many health issues can be traced back to poor circulation. Having healthy circulation is key to fertility and overall health because getting fresh, clean, oxygenated blood to our organs and cells is of the utmost importance. Massage helps the body to return blood to the heart for oxygen, helps to move lymph fluids, and helps the body to process and get rid of toxins found in organs and muscles. There are many causes of poor circulation. The main ones being:

  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Lack of exercise
  • High cholesterol

How Self Fertility Massage™ Works…

Massage has been used for centuries to help women increase their fertility and create a healthy uterus. To understand how Self Fertility Massage works you will need to understand the female reproductive anatomy. There are three major fertility organs that Self Fertility Massage is going to affect. These include the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries as well as the stomach, liver, and intestines.

Uterine Massage

The Reproductive SystemThe uterus is located behind the bladder in the bottom of the pelvic cavity. Self Fertility Massage helps a uterus that has become tilted, is compressed by feces impacted intestines, and suffers from a lack of circulation. There are various reasons the uterus may not be getting enough circulation.

The main artery that supplies the uterus with blood also supplies the legs with blood. If you lead a sedentary or stressful life then circulation could easily be compromised. There are many other reasons the uterus may not be getting enough circulation, such as twisted fallopian tubes, congestion, tight fascia, inflammation, endometrial tissues, scar tissue, or past surgeries to the area.

Ovary Massage

The ovaries are located in front of the uterus, next to the pelvic bone. Self Fertility Massage can help the ovaries by bringing fresh oxygenated blood and nutrients to the eggs.

Fallopian Tube Massage

The fallopian tubes are attached to the sides of the uterus. Self Fertility Massage is very helpful in helping the body to clear blocked tubes and helping to loosen scar tissue in the reproductive system.

Stomach Massage

Self Fertility Massage massages the organsWe will also be massaging the stomach, liver, and intestines. Massaging the stomach is important for helping digestion and reducing stress. You may notice once we start the massage that your stomach may feel hard to the touch or tight. A lot of people hold stress in their stomachs. Dr. John Lee also says that hormonal balance starts in the digestive system.

Liver Massage

Liver massage helps the liver to do its job of getting toxins and excess hormones out of the body. The liver is located on the right side of the body just behind and below the bottom ribs. We will be doing a technique called the liver pump. This technique helps the liver to pump out toxins and excess hormones.

Intestine Massage

Massaging the intestines is important for general health and fertility. By massaging the intestines you are helping your body to eliminate feces that may be stuck or impacted. Digestive and intestinal health is very important for fertility. Many of the nutrients are absorbed from food in the upper intestines. In addition, feces-impacted intestines can become heavy and put unnecessary weight on the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes.

Techniques Used in Self Fertility Massage

A wide range of massage techniques are used in Self Fertility Massage™.

Self Fertility Massage™ incorporates Chi Nei Tsang (Asian organ massage), deep tissue massage, myofascial release, acupressure, reflexology, and castor oil therapy.

Chi Nei Tsang

Self Fertility Massage helps to bring balanceChi Nei Tsang is an ancient form of organ massage. It is a massage technique used to clear blocked energy, tension, and stress that accumulates in the organs; it releases toxins, clears excessive heat, and helps with heat deficiencies such as a cold uterus. The basis of Chi Nei Tsang is helping the flow of chi or the body’s life force to travel smoothly through the entire body. If there is a health issue somewhere, that is a sign of blocked or stagnant chi. Chi Nei Tsang helps to clear that blockage so the chi can continue flowing and help the body to heal itself.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that helps to break up adhesions, increase circulation, and aids in detoxification. This is one of the most popular types of massage. The slow, deep motions of this massage helps to relax the body while promoting fresh blood flow to the area you are massaging.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a massage technique that helps to release the myofascial tissue that surrounds all organs and muscles. This tissue can become twisted and adherent over time. Releasing the myofascia helps to free up organs that may have been stuck to each other and also helps with bringing fresh blood and oxygen to the reproductive organs.

Acupressure comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine based on the same ideas as acupuncture, but without the needles. It involves applying pressure to a specific point on the body to bring greater balance and circulation. Many times, the acupressure point is not located near the symptom.

ReflexologyReflexology is a massage technique that is applied to specific areas of your feet. There are points on the feet that correspond to a specific organ of the body. By stimulating that reflexology point, you are helping to clear out congestion and blockages, encouraging circulation and chi to flow to that organ. In Self Fertility Massage™ we work on reproductive, endocrine, and digestive reflex points.

Complimentary Therapies

Castor Oil Therapy

Castor oil therapy has been used for thousands of years as a healing therapy. Castor oil is extracted from the castor plant and is used externally on the lower abdomen. Castor oil packs are best used just prior to Self Fertility Massage.

Self Fertility Massage Q&A

What can I expect from the Self Fertility Massage DVD?
Well, first I have to tell you that it is not a Hollywood shot movie. The DVD consists of me teaching you step-by-step how to do the Self Fertility Massage techniques. I also don’t use models in the video. I personally show you how to do the massage techniques on yourself by doing them on myself.

You can expect to learn a massage practice you can do on yourself daily. You can expect to save money by not having to find and pay a massage therapist who specializes in fertility massage (there are few). And you can expect to see a difference in your reproductive health.

Can I use the Self Fertility Massage™ techniques if I am getting IVF or if I am on fertility medications?
The techniques used in Self Fertility Massage™ may be helpful and can be used if you are preparing for a fertility procedure or on fertility medications. Let your doctor know you are using massage. The techniques are safe to use before your procedures, but discontinue them once the transfer has occurred.

Will this be easy to add to my daily routine?
Yes. We have a quick recap at the end of the DVD so you can quickly access it and follow the instructions daily until you have it memorized.

The massage portion is approximately 15-20 minutes long, followed by 10 minutes of reflexology, which makes this practice easy to fit into any day.

Do I have to be a massage therapist to understand the techniques?
No, you do not. I created this video so you can apply the techniques yourself without having to find a therapist who specializes in fertility massage. And you won’t have to pay $90 a session. You will be able to apply Self Fertility Massage from the comfort of your own home for a fraction of the cost.

How often will I have to do the massage to receive benefits?
For best results, apply the Self Fertility Massage techniques on a daily basis except when you are menstruating or after ovulation if you are currently trying to conceive. If you are currently not trying to conceive and are preparing, you can do the massage daily except during your period.

Can I use the Self Fertility Massage if I have blocked tubes?
Self Fertility Massage is one of the best natural therapies for blocked tubes as it helps to break up adhesions and increase circulation. It will take some time to see the results, but it is well worth it. You may want to also look into some of the herbs and supplements we provide for supporting the body in unblocking tubes naturally for a well-rounded program.

Is Self Fertility Massage the only thing I need to do to boost my fertility?
This depends on what your fertility issue is. Please take a look at our resources to find the guide created for your particular situation. There may be some herbs that should be taken in conjunction with Self Fertility Massage for the best results.

Is Self Fertility Massage guaranteed to make me get pregnant?
While I wish I could guarantee to each and every one of you that this will no doubt make you become pregnant, that is impossible to do. I cannot guarantee (legally and morally) that you will become pregnant by using the techniques in this DVD or by using any of our products. I cannot place a guarantee on something we all have no control over (such as the miracle of pregnancy). What I can say is that we have helped many women realize their dream of motherhood and believe that what we provide here is very promising and real.

I was told today that I have a thin uterine wall. I’m 58 and am 10 years postmenopausal. I was told 3-4 years ago I have low to no estrogen. I didn’t want to use HRT and was offered the natural hormone therapy but couldn’t afford it. Would your self massage DVD be beneficial for someone who is postmenopausal? (definitely not trying to get pregnant 🙂 ) I’m in pretty good shape, do yoga, eat healthy, etc. Thanks for your response.

    • Dear Rose,

Self Fertility Massage was designed for women in their reproductive years to promote healthy blood flow to the uterus (all organs in the pelvic bowl), which then supports uterine muscle function and the health of the endometrial lining. It is not necessarily know to impact thickness of the uterine wall, the uterine muscle itself.

How long, on an average, for those who did the self massage, were able to un-block their tubes?

I was also given a copy of my x-rays when I had the dye put into my tubes to see if they were blocked or not. I wasn’t given a direct concrete answer as to if they were or weren’t. Can I send a copy to someone professional that can view my x-rays and give me an honest answer?

    • Dear Sylvia,

While Self Fertility Massage has a wealth of fertility health benefits as you have read in this article, it alone may not be the only natural therapy to consider. There is actually no answer to your question given no two cases of any fertility health issue are the same.

We do not have on staff someone who can read x-rays. It is best to seek the help of a qualified healthcare provider who can read them and discuss them with you.

The effectiveness of natural therapies will depend on the location and/or severity of the blockage, in addition to what has led to, or is contributing to the blockage. Consider asking your healthcare provider if he can help you understand these factors as you contemplate the best plan for you. The good news is that natural therapies can be used alongside any type of treatment options you are considering, which may greatly help to improve outcome.

Hello! I have heard recenlty by a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, and a mobility/holsitic health coach that Maca should be avoided by everyone because it can increase testosterone levels. Can you weigh in on this controversy? Who should or should not use it? Thanks so much!

    • Dear Erin,

I am not certain where this information is coming from or that I can properly weigh in, but I can share what I know about Fertilica Maca.

Fertilica Maca specifically is viewed as a fertility superfood that provides 31 different minerals and 60 different micronutrients and is considered foundational for sperm and egg health support, energy and libido and for those experiencing high stress levels. Fertilica Maca has been shown to nourish the endocrine and immune systems, and support a healthy stress response in the body.

Maca is know to support overall hormone balance overall without containing hormones itself. To my knowledge it is not known to directly impact testosterone levels. General suggested use is 1000 mg to 3000 mg per day each day all month long without taking a break and it is suggested to start at the lowest suggested dose and increase from there if one feels the need.

We have a variety of articles on Maca if you are interested in continuing to educate yourself.

All the best as you decide if Maca is right for you.

Hi! I’m 28 years old with a history thyroid system dysfunction, low progesterone, mild endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, PCOS, diverticulums in both fallopian tubes and polyps. My doctor did corrective surgery and after that I had 2 ectopic pregnancy. Now I have only 1 fallopian tube which is repaired. Surgery was 3 days before. I would like to know how could I avoid the chances of ectopic pregnancy in future? Will this Self Fertility Massage be helpful to decrease the chances of scarring or blockage? Also the proven statistics to support this Self Fertility Massage? Any diet to improve natural progesterone and thyroid level? Please reply.
    Thank you.
    Tintu Joseph

    • Hello Tintu!

I am sorry for the challenges you have been faced with!

We do have information on the causes, and about natural prevention and recovery from ectopic pregnancy, as well as support for both the physical and emotional aspects of ectopic pregnancy.

Self Fertility Massage could be a part of this natural fertility program. As far as proven statistics, tracking them would require each woman’s fertility health issue to be similar or the same, and require Self Fertility Massage to be performed to the same degree and exactly the same on every women who tries it. This is simply not the case making sharing proven results impossible. We do however have many women who use this natural therapy and who have shared their experiences with Self Fertility Massage here… Self Fertility Massage was also created by a certified massage therapist using massage techniques like Mayan Abdominal Massage and natural therapies like Reflexology.

In terms of diet, we support following a Fertility Diet. consider learning more about naturally supporting Fertilica Vitex and Fertilica Maca.

I know this is a lot of information and if overwhelming, consider one on one support from our fertility herbalist through a Fertility Consultation. This is a wonderful way to receive a personalized natural fertility program.

I hope this is helpful as you move forward and go on to have a healthy pregnancy!

I was wondering if you can use Self Fertility Massage in combination with acupuncture? I am already working with a TCM doctor doing acupuncture and herbs. Thank you!

    • Hello!

Self Fertility Massage can be combined with Acupuncture. It would be best to let your TCM practitioner know you are using this natural therapy as well.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Just as there are different acupoint located in the front & back of body, there are also different acupoint located on the front & back of hands.

As I have finger rheumatism, I often massage my fingers (front, top & bottom) to improve blood cirulation to the organs such as heart & large intestines. Will massaging one’s fingers after ovulation affect one’s chances of conceiving naturally?

    • Hello Jl!

Thank you! I do indeed understand that there are correlating acupressure points on the front and back of the body.

The Acupressure Point for Fertility are not to be massaged after ovulation when trying to conceive. The only Acupressure Point for Fertility on the hand that I am aware of is LI 4 which is located in the webbing between the thumb and forefinger. This would be the acupoint on the hand to avoid after ovulation.

In terms of the other points you use to help with rheumatism, it would be best to speak with a natural healthcare practitioner or massage therapist familiar with Acupressure.

      All my best!

Regarding acupressure, I like to know if I press a point located near a point which I should NOT press after ovulation, is it all right? E.g. Due to soreness, I press the webbing between the index finger & middle finger. It is not the webbing between the thumb & index finger. Will this affect my chances of conceiving successfully?

    • Dear Jl,

I am not the most well versed in acupressure points, but from my research there isn’t an acupressure point located in the webbing between the pointer and middle fingers. To my knowledge applying pressure here will not produce the fertility benefit of applying pressure to LI-4 or webbing between the thumb and pointer finger.

Here is an article the help guide you further in using acupressure for fertility… Improve Fertility Easily With Acupressure.

    • Dear Katherine,

Self Fertility Massage can be used while breastfeeding. I also would like to add that if considering Radiant Womb Massage Oil as well, it can also be used as long as your baby’s skin won’t come into contact with Radiant Womb.

      Enjoy this massage!

    Hi! Great post indeed!!
I have tried fertility massage, but felt some swelling at the part of the ovaries or fallopian tube. So is this ok for the first time massage? Will this continue during massages? Do I need to worry? Is it a indication of blocked fallopian tubes or any ovary problem? Also, for the last 15 days, I feel nausea with no reason, that started massage and continued after massage. Does it indicate any tubal or ovary problem? …additional info., my AMH level is 1.38. 🙁 Please help. Thanks in advance!

    • Dear Heena,

It may be possible to experience signs of massaging the abdomen, for example sensitivity and increased circulation. Given that many have not massaged this area of the body before and depending on the degree of pressure used when massaging, these signs will vary. Consider using less pressure while massaging.

I do have to also ask if you could be pregnant? Feeling swelling and nausea are not symptoms I have heard of as a result of Self Fertility Massage. These symptoms also do not immediately indicate to me that there is an issue with fallopian tube or ovarian health. There is no way for me to know this for you. Testing with your healthcare provider is the best way to evaluate fallopian tube and ovarian health.

The article AMH, Ovarian Reserve, & Continued Follicle Production may also be helpful as you continue to naturally support your fertility health.

Hi! I am 34 years old and last week I was diagnosed with endometriosis. Laparoscopic surgery was advise for the removal of a dermoid cyst, cyst has been removed. Both of my fallopian tubes are blocked. Please tell me how I can open my fallopian tubes naturally. Also please advise how can I avoid re-occurrence of the endometriosis cyst. Does this self Fertility Massage and Castor Oil Therapy work good in this case?

    • Dear Shama,

I’m sorry to hear about your struggles and challenges!

The effectiveness of natural therapies will depend on the location and/or severity of the blockage, in addition to what has led to, or is contributing to the blockage. Consider asking your healthcare provider if he can help you understand these factors as you contemplate the best plan for you.

As you work to learn this, take some time to read the article that our founder wrote about Natural Therapies for Blocked Fallopian Tubes to learn more. Self Fertility Massage and Castor Oil Therapy are discussed in that article.

Should you learn that endometriosis is the culprit, consider also learning how to support the body’s natural ability to remove excess estrogen from the body, in maintaining its natural inflammatory response, providing it relief from occasional discomfort in the reproductive system and encouraging normal circulation, helping to bring fresh blood and oxygen to the reproductive system.

We are able to be most helpful through a Fertility Consultation which allows the opportunity to work one on one with our fertility herbalist who will create a natural therapy program to follow that addresses your specific fertility health needs. This may be worth considering as well.

      Take care!

Hi. I am 31 and have been dealing with ‘unexplained infertility’ for two years. We are currently in the time-frame between menstruation and ovulation. I bought the video and tried it out for the first time at night before bed. I did the castor oil pack, followed by the massage (which my husband helped with) and found it very relaxing.
However, today i noticed some slightly painful cramping and brownish red spotting. What could be the cause of this? Should I discontinue the massage (it was only the first time)? Could it be the simply the stress of ‘unblocking’ gunk from the tubes and uterus (hoping it’s this)?

    • Dear Lasme,

I am sorry this has caused concern. Both Self Fertility Massage and Castor Oil Therapy encourage and promote mild detoxification and increased circulation to the reproductive organs. In doing this, these organs are “waking up” and being stimulated. This can cause mild, temporary cramping and spotting. Spotting may be blood from your previous menstrual period that didn’t come out on its own at that time (and should come out). Rather than a cause for concern, we view these effects as a sign the body is responding to each natural therapy.

Be gentle in massaging whether massaging yourself or having your husband help you. I hope you enjoy each natural therapy!

Can I still do this even if I am 150lbs overweight?

    • Dear Minerva,

The area of the body massaged when using Self Fertility Massage is the lower abdomen, from the belly button to the pubic bone. Self Fertility Massage is most beneficial if this area is easily accessible and the organs beneath this area are able to be palpated. If this is the case for you, it may be a natural therapy worth considering, but because everyone carries their weight differently, I can not say for certain.

      I hope this is helpful!

Hi! I am 38 years old and 160lbs. I used to have PCOS, but my doctor says my ovaries do not have any of the cysts now. My periods have been regular for some time now. I have had no miscarriages, never conceived though. Trying hard for a baby.

However, I missed my period last month. Pregnancy test was negative. Got an FGS scan done, doctor told me my ovarian reserve is becoming low and I didn’t ovulate that’s why I haven’t got my period. There were 2 eggs each in both ovaries. Looking thru my records, there was a decline. I am worried that I am nearing menopause.

Can the Self Fertility Massage induce ovulation and can it help to increase the egg count and quality? What should I be doing? Please guide me.

    • Dear Sonali,

As women age egg health naturally declined, which is very normal, and is affected by environmental toxins, poor food choices, circulation, free-radicals, stress, hormonal balance, etc. Herbs, nutritional supplements and natural therapies can work to protect and support long-term health, including egg health. Self Fertility Massage supports proper circulation to the reproductive organs, detoxification and offers support for stress-reduction. There are also however other ways to consider supporting AMH, Ovarian Reserve, & Continued Follicle Production. Click that link to learn more!

I hope this information is helpful!

I’ve done the massage video each night for the past 3 nights. Are you supposed to continue doing the massage after ovulation? Can it interfere or cause issue during implantation? If I am to do the massage through implantation, when do you advise to stop doing the massage in my cycle? I am normally a 28-30 day cycle. I just wouldn’t want to risk anything the month that I get pregnant.
    Thanks Mary

    • Dear Mary,

Self Fertility Massage is not to be continued after ovulation when actively trying to conceive, or during the two week wait. It can be resumed again after menstruation if there is no pregnancy.

I hope you have enjoyed Self Fertility Massage!

So should I stop performing the massage once I get a positive OPK reading? I am due to ovulate in a day or so, so just checking. Should I just stop the massage part of the video during the 2WW or should I also avoid doing the reflexology? Just curious if the reflexology is beneficial in facilitating implantation. Thanks Miriam

    • Dear Miriam,

Self Fertility Massage and the reflexology techniques are to be stopped at ovulation. Because OPK tests indicate ovulation in coming, it is best discontinued when you get a positive OPK and not used during the two week wait. Should pregnancy not result, Self Fertility Massage can be started again after menstruation ends.

      Best wishes to you!

I am 46 yrs old have always wanted to have another baby, but now I am going though menopause. I haven’t had a period since April 2014 and also have low FSH levels. Should I just give up on trying to get pregnant since I haven’t had a period in so long? Is there something I could take to get my periods back to try to get pregnant, just wondering? I have suffered two miscarriages in my lifetime, one was at 5 weeks it didn’t attach on, and the other one was at 7 weeks heard a heartbeat, then lost it. My fiance’s daughter was pregnant around the same time. She had hers, I lost ours. I always think about it… could have had a son or daughter by now. Julie

I am 36 & have been ttc for over a year. All is normal with both of us-no blocked tubes,no sperm issues, no hormone issues.I had high prolactin & on medication for that & it’s now normal.I have been seeing an acupuncturist the past month & have altered my diet to remove dairy, increase my supplements.I am completely off caffeine & alcohol. Before we entertain an IUI/drugs OR IVF I am very keen on doing this naturally.Since we have unexplained infertility,I bought your massage download.I was told that I have a tilted uterus but that it makes no difference.I always was surprised that it didn’t & am glad to find this info to know it does.If I don’t use the castor oil will it reduce effectiveness?

    • Dear Mary,

Self Fertility Massage is perfectly effective without Castor Oil Therapy. They can be used individually, but can also be combined if you feel you would benefit from both natural therapies.

Have you had time to read our article What About Unexplained Infertility? It may offer additional insight and guidance.

Congratulations on making the changes you have to benefit your fertility health and best wishes!

On a daily basis, when is the best time to do self fertility massage? Before bed time or in the morning?

    • Dear Shelly,

The best time to do Self Fertility Massage is when you have at least 30 minutes to lay still and relax without interruption. This is whenever it fits into your day and is best for you.

      Enjoy this natural therapy!

Hi! I like this video, but it is so short. The massage is only spiral movements, or are there more techniques? How can I get a successful fertility massage and for how long should i do it? How long each day?

    • Hi Gaby!

The video here is just a small part of the Self Fertility Massage. The full Self Fertility Massage DVD can be purchased from the Natural Fertility Shop. Self Fertility Massage can be done 4-6 times a week for 6 months to a year, not during menstruation and not after ovulation when trying to conceive. The massage portion of the video takes approximately 20 minutes long.

      Enjoy this massage!

Hi I am 29 years old and have been trying to conceive for many years now. I have a 9 yr. old daughter that I was able to conceive about 3 months after I had my uterus massaged along with an herbal remedy given to me by the lady that massaged me. She said I had a tilted uterus and when I gave birth to my daughter I almost had to have a c-section because she wasn’t in the right position. Could I be having a hard time getting pregnant because of a tilted uterus?? Also what do you know about some injectable hormones referred by Hispanics as cuerpo Amarillo

Hello, I currently have amenorrhea after stopping birth control pills and will undergo blood tests, etc. to find out why. My husband and I would like to start trying to get pregnant. I would like to try the self fertility massage; however, it states above that “If you are currently trying to conceive, do fertility massage from the last day of your period until ovulation.” Obviously, I am not getting a period and may have anovulation. So I am wondering: 1. will this help me to ovulate; and 2. how do I determine when to do it since I do not have a period and know when I am ovulating? Thank you so much for your time. P.S. I have been taking vitex for about 3 weeks & drink red raspberry leaf tea

    • Elizabeth Willett, MA, CH

      Dear Nina,

We do hear all too often about women experiencing amenorrhea after stopping birth control. There is information about birth control recovery in our article How to Balance Your Hormones After Birth Control that I think will be helpful.

Regarding Self Fertility Massage, it stimulates the body’s natural detoxification processes, which may bring on the menstrual cycle in some women. It is not to be done during menstruation or after ovulation when you begin trying to conceive. With no period, massage can be done 4-6 times a week to stimulate the body and support the return of menstruation.

The goal to support your body is re-learning hormonal balance and the use of Self Fertility Massage can change as you start to experience changes and see results.

      Take care!

I have been checked for a tumour on my pituatry gland which was negative, been to two endocrinologists and no one has an answer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    • Elizabeth Willett, MA, CH

      Dear Claire,

There may be any number of reasons why one’s period stops from nutritional deficiencies, being overweight or underweight (or rapid weight change), thyroid health issues, fertility issues, even travel. There is an imbalance of some sort, somewhere. Consider taking time to learn more about what causes an absent period, about questions you might ask your doctor and how to naturally support a healthy menstrual cycle and period through our article How To Get Your Period Back.

Hi i am 31. I found out through an HSG x-ray I have blocked or scarred fallopian tubes. The doc says it is endo. The left one had fluid come out but very slowly. The right one had a collection of fluid hydrosalpinx. We do not know the cause of hydro the typical reasons have been ruled out through testing. The doc says I have to have a laparoscopic surgery. and if that doesn’t work do IVF. I requested IVF first and she would not do it. As a patient I feel like my voice is not being heard. I have healthy eggs, ovaries and I ovulate every month. my husband has been tested and he is fine. Due to my convictions and my sense to try something else please help! I exercise now on a regular basis.

    • Hi Rebecca M,

Thank you for contacting us and sharing your story! I am sorry you are facing so many challenges! It doesn’t sound like your doctor told you this, but typically they won’t do IVF with hydrosalpinx because it greatly lowers the chance of a successful outcome. IVF is a huge commitment not only on your part, but their part as well and they aren’t going to perform this if there are known factors that may lead to a failed attempt.

I am not clear, based on what you are saying if your doctor wants you to get surgery for the endometriosis, hydrosalpinx or both? It sounds like right now it would be best to do all you can from home to support your body by improving the health of your reproductive system, prior to surgery and IVF, so you can increase the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Without first addressing endometriosis and fallopian tube health, your chances of a healthy, term pregnancy is going to be much lower. These health issues put you at risk for miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.

Because you have a variety of reproductive health issues that need to be addressed, I think you should consider a consultation with on of our fertility herbalists, or a naturopathic doctor who specializes in women’s health issues. I absolutely think your voice should be heard, so you may want to talk to your doctor more about the medical options again, prior to making a decision in how to move forward. If they don’t have time for you, or you don’t feel supported by them, seek a second opinion. I have some articles I think you will find helpful…

Does Fertility Massage help in shrinking uterine fibroids?

    • Elizabeth Willett, MA, CH

      Hello Nigar!

Self Fertility Massage helps to maintain normal uterine health including in part by encouraging normal circulation to the uterus.

There are additional supplements that have been found to support the bodies natural ability to reduce the occurrences of occasional growths within the uterus and promote the breakdown and removal of excess estrogen from the body (which is often a culprit when growths are present).

I encourage you to take some time to learn how to naturally support uterine health here…

      Best wishes!

hi.. i had ovarian cyst, and blockfallopian tube how can i get pregnant?

    • Elizabeth Willett, MA, CH

      Hello Carla!

Working to support ovarian and fallopian tube health it key there are natural ways to do this as well as medical ways.

Take time to learn and about . Fallopian tubes, in particular, that are severely damaged need special care. In those cases we would suggest you work with a specialist. A specialist will be able to evaluate your unique situation and determine the best possible course of care. Clear Passage Physical Therapy Clinics are a great option for those who do not want surgery. It is important to recognize that the fallopian tubes are about the size of a spaghetti noodle in width and are very delicate. Any sort of trauma can alter their function and damage the tubal tissues. Once they are damaged it may be difficult to reverse that damage and this is why I initially mentioned medical means by which you might be able to become pregnant (you will want to speak with your healthcare provider about these methods). The good news is that the natural therapies to support fallopian tube health can be used alone, or alongside any type of treatment options you are considering, which may greatly help to improve outcome.

      I sincerely wish you well!

When TTC, should I do self fertility massage before intercourse or after? Does it make a difference? Can I do massage same day as we BD?

    • Hi Sheila,

It is fine to perform the Self Fertility Massage really any time of the day. We find it is best first thing in the morning, or prior to going to bed. This type of massage is not related to sexual intercourse, it is a physical therapy for the reproductive organs. It would be best to avoid it directly after sexual intercourse, to allow sperm to get where they need to go. It is fine to do it the same day you have intercourse.

      All the best!

I am 46yrs old and was diagnosed with PID, Endometriosis, Hydrosalpinx and Uterine Fibroids. I have done 3HSG and 2Laparascopy but no positive result yet. I am scared of going through any surgery. I want to find out if the Self Fertility Massage can work for these challenges and if there are herbs and supplements that can be used to rid off these challenges. If the answer is YES what is the price and how do I get the package?

    • Hi Adebisi,

I am sorry to hear of the many challenges you are facing! Considering these, along with your age, I kindly and gently encourage you to consider medical methods, along side natural therapies, fertility diet and regular movement supportive of reproductive health to achieve pregnancy. Options may be IVF with your own eggs, IVF with embryo adoption or egg donor, or even adoption, should you not want to go through any more medical treatments. Today there are many options for couples that are facing infertility due to age and reproductive organ damage.

Women over the age of 40, and especially over the age of 45 have a limited amount of time to achieve healthy pregnancy. Compound that with major reproductive health issues and the likelihood to achieve natural pregnancy is slim to none.

Self Fertility Massage is a great way to improve reproductive health in preparation for pregnancy, but it is not a “cure all”. It may be used as a tool to prepare for pregnancy, either naturally or through ART. Don’t give up hope, there are many paths to parenthood, though they may not be what you initially desire or considered when thinking of becoming a mom, but those options are out there to help millions of people realize their dream of parenthood.

If you aren’t planning on becoming pregnant in the future, you may want to consider implementing a long-term natural therapy plan for improving your reproductive health. You have many health issues that need to be addressed and the best way to get personalized guidance would be to consider a consultation with one of our fertility herbalists.
