Question :
I love your site so much. Been TTC for two years. I am vegetarian, and wonder if any of your fertility diet has any substitution suggestions? Even if not, this is a terrific site, and I want to thank you, and wish I could offer some web site assistance in some way. Thanks again!
Cynthia
Hethir’s Answer :
HI Cynthia,
Thank you for your kind comments about the site. It is my passion and I love what I do, to know I am helping others is why I do this.
I am so glad you asked this question.
There are some substitutions you can make. In place of the meats and fish, eat lentils, edamame, tempeh, chicken (ha ha just joking, when I was a veg for years my family would think chicken was vegetarian 🙂 ), sprouted nuts and grains, whey protein powder, eggs and raw dairy products.
I must say two things, and I may ruffle some feathers out there but I have to speak my truth:
I would personally never eat processed soy products such as: soy milk, soy dogs, soy meats, soy ice cream, soy protein powder, soy bacon. They are so processed and contain hormone simulating ingredients.
Also make sure you are getting enough fats (necessary for hormone production) in your diet. You can get these from avocados, nuts, dairy products, and flax seed oil.
Best wishes,
Hethir

Update 2014 – We are back! We have been away for a while and we sure have missed all of your wonderful questions and thoughts on our articles. Moving forward, one of our staff herbalists will be here to respond to comments! We look forward to connecting with our readers once again!
I agree with your comment about soy products. It’s my understanding that soy can be detrimental to fertility. I am very new to the vegetarian lifestyle, so there’s so much I don’t know. I am also hoping to conceive soon. After 2 separate miscarriages this Spring, I need to build my body up. I have tried Whey Protein before, but have only found one I like so far, and it’s no longer sold. Do you have one that you recommend that tastes good?
Hi Kim,
Thank you for reading this article! We sell our FertiliWhey at our online Natural Fertility Shop. FertiliWhey Protein is a superior source of complete, biologically active, immunity-boosting protein. It is easy to mix and tastes great, a powerful addition to your daily health regimen. Fertilica Whey is a non-denatured whey protein concentrate, produced to maintain the fragile, immune-boosting, and regenerative components naturally present in fresh milk. Highly digestible, whey has one of the highest biological values of any protein source.
