So, maybe you’ve decided that now’s the time.
You’re ready to start a family and you’re getting off birth control. You might be thinking:
What do I do now?
At this point, there are some important things to consider.
Stopping birth control looks different for everyone. Your period might not come back for a few months. Or you could have strange, unpredictable cycles.
Some people can get off birth control and are pregnant within the next month, but that isn’t always the case because for some, that hormonal jumpstart doesn’t happen.
Here are my top tips for those of you who are stopping birth control and want to get your body back to a healthy hormonal balance.
Will You Get Pregnant When You Stop The Pill?
It May Take Some Time For Things To Get Back To Normal…
While you’re on birth control, your body’s hormones are being suppressed from an outside source (AKA your birth control.)
So, once you stop taking it, it could take some time for your body to produce adequate amounts of hormones on its own again.
You could be waiting for a while to get that first period afterwards. You may also experience spotting, or your period could be unusually light or heavy.
All these things can happen as your body is trying to rebalance itself again.
For that reason, be patient with your first, second, and even third cycle after stopping birth control.
This is the time where your body is working hard to rebalance its hormones. Patience is key here.
Start With A Fertility Cleanse
A fertility cleanse is a great place to start after quitting birth control. It can help you:
- Support your hormonal balance
- Increase circulation to your reproductive system
- Amplify your body’s natural ability to balance hormones
These are just a couple of the reasons that a fertility cleanse is a good first step when you’re getting off hormonal birth control.

Taking a multivitamin, getting on track with a healthy diet, and drinking more water are just a few of the ways you can make sure your body is getting proper nutrition.
Herbs Can Help to Support the Endocrine System

Learn About Your Body and Cycle Through Fertility Charting
Fertility charting is a remarkable way for you keep track of all the details of your cycle.
And best of all, it allows you to know when and if you’re ovulating.
Because you’ll be taking your temperature while you do this charting, you’ll also know:
- The length of your period
- What happens during your period
- When progesterone is kicking in (Your temperature goes up)
- When you’re ovulating (Your temperature goes down)
- The length of different phases of your period
This really allows you to learn your body and be more effective when trying for a pregnancy.
