“Success After Heartbreak”

I had my first child with no issues, I thought I was ovulating and immediately got pregnant that try. Once my son turned one we decided to start trying again. Month after month, frustrated and upset I’d discover I wasn’t pregnant.
By January 2015 (6 months in) I asked if we could do testing on my husband. If nothing was coming back abnormal on me surely something would come back for him. We proceeded to get a semen analysis on him in February, about two weeks after a trip we took to Mexico. Turns out I actually found out I was pregnant the morning we got the results of his semen analysis. As the nurse was telling me that my husband had a low number of “normal” sperm (or high number of abnormal shaped sperm) I just kept thinking about the positive test I got that morning. Once she was done giving me his results I broke the news to her. Needless to say she was shocked! After the results I kept wondering if something would go wrong with this pregnancy if my husband had “bad” sperm. The nurse tried to tell me it didn’t mean anything but I couldn’t get that through my head. Fast forward 8 weeks – I began spotting and called the doctor to be seen. Turns out I was miscarrying. After 7 months of trying so hard to get pregnant it ended after 8 short weeks. To say I was devastated is an understatement!
I had done a lot of researching during the days I was miscarrying on whether I could have done something differently or if there was any way I could have prevented this.
