How long does it take for hormones to be balanced after being on the pill for 8 years?

Can the birth control pill contribute to infertility?Question:

How long does it take for my hormones to be balanced after being on the pill for 8-years. I’m taking a food based prenatal vitamin, extra b6, cal/mag, evening primrose oil, and fertility herbal tincture(w/vitex and maca) from quantum, a small co. from Woodstock NY. What else can I do? I’m 36 years old and we’ve only been trying to get pregnant for 3 months. I’ve been thinking about Maya massage, what do you think? Thanks for your time.

Hethir:

Hi,

Sounds like you have the supplements and herbs down. Do you eat a diet high in organic whole foods? That would be a fundamental step. I also love the Mayan massage; if you have a practitioner near you go for it. I got pregnant for the first time right after receiving a uterine massage (that night), after having 7 years of unprotectedness! (we weren’t “trying” though)

As to the hormones leaving your body, it would happen quicker with a cleanse. The rule of thumb in the fertility world is 3 months for the hormones to balance after birth control. BUT everyone is different and eight years is a while to be on birth control. Just remember 90% of couples get pregnant within the first 18 months. All of these healthy habits we are shifting to just speed up that wait and create a healthier baby and pregnancy.

Best Wishes to you and your family,

Hethir
