I just finished reading The Infertility Cure: The Ancient Chinese Wellness Program for Getting Pregnant and Having Healthy Babies”. This book has to be one of the best books on fertility available.

Randine Lewis Ph.D. has created a great program for women to follow and have success getting pregnant. She says something in her book that is the basis of everything we do here on Natural Fertility Info.com and it is this- There is no such thing as infertility.

I don’t know if any of you have noticed but no where on this site, ever, is the word infertility used except if I am quoting someone or it is included in a book title. It does not exist to us. Balance is the key and needs to be the focus, coming back into balance, health and peace.

There is so much going on in our lives now days compared to the past. There are hormones coming at us from everywhere- our foods, fluorescent lights, stress, pollution, and the list goes on. We have more stress than ever.

“Women who want to get pregnant may want to stay away from fast food french fries not just to avoid putting on some extra pounds, a new study shows. The more trans fats a woman eats, the more likely she is to be infertile, Dr. Jorge E. Chavarro of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston and colleagues found.” - MSNBC

Eating trans fats have an effect on the body by interfering with a cell receptor involved in inflammation, glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. Insulin sensitivity and poor glucose metabolism are the same factors that affect the fertility of women who have PCOS.

With every 4 grams of trans fats eaten instead of omega-6 fatty acids, the risks of fertility issues doubles. It is not hard to get 4 grams of trans fatty acids a day, especially if you eat fast foods and processed foods.

Solution?

  • Start reading labels. Avoid foods that contain trans fats in the ingredients.

  • Eat whole foods in there natural state. Focus on fresh vegetables, fruits, organic meats and fish.

  • Avoid fast foods- French fries, hamburgers, fried chicken, ect… are all cooked in trans fats

  • I am enjoying this new ritual of starting the week off with something positive and hilarious.

Hi Hethir, I have been taking vitex extracticon for 3 weeks now and I am on day 35 of my cycle, am I supposed to stop taking the vitex on a certain day so my period will start. I did hpt it was negative.

Here are some funny baby videos:

    Hi there Hethir

Firstly, I just want to say how much I love your site. Your knowledge, inspiration and motivation just amazes me.

I just have a question about maca and flaxseed oil. I’ve been trying to get pregnant for 4 months and last month started having your fertility smoothie and charting and testing for the fern pattern. I was using an IUD for contraception previously; it has been out since October. My cycle is usually 29 days and ovulates on day 15.

Well, a strange cycle this one. I ovulated on day 19 and then yesterday, day 23 I started spotting very lightly. It’s still happening today but not as much. I’m thinking this might be implantation bleeding (fingers crossed).

    Minerals: The missing link

    April 10th, 2007

You may have heard many times that our foods are not as mineralized and full of vitamins as they once were. But did you know that can have an effect on your health, and has been?

Have you ever heard of people craving non-edible objects such as coals, nails, brick, clay pots, or wood?

When I was working at a health foods store as there herbalist, I had a client come in and ask me what he could eat that tasted like dirt or brick, but would not hurt him. Right away I knew he has a major mineral deficiency, so much so that his body was craving items rich in minerals, regardless if they were edible.

I have also seen this in a large number of pregnant women, as the demands of minerals are high during pregnancy.

    Dear Hethir,
I am looking at doing the cleanse, but am breastfeeding my almost 3 year old still. Is there a modified version of the cleanse that I can do without harming her?

She nurses minimally (only 2 times a day). I have been trying to get pregnant this time for about 2 1/2 years, have done clomid and all of that nasty stuff and I am willing to try anything at this point to avoid the IVF in 3 months. We are already on the fertility diet, but want to everything we can. Could I just skip the mercury part of the cleanse? Thank you!

    Question:

How long does it take for my hormones to be balanced after being on the pill for 8 years. I’m taking a food based pre-natal vitamin, extra b6, cal/mag, evening primrose oil, and fertility herbal tincture(w/vitex and maca) from quantum, a small co. from Woodstock NY. What else can I do? I’m 36 years old and we’ve only been trying for 3 months. I’ve been thinking about Maya massage, what do you think? Thanks for your time.

    No More Stress

    April 5th, 2007

Does stress have an effect on your fertility?

We live in a fast paced world, and being a woman today has many blessings, one of them being a professional life. But are we constantly trying to hurry to meet all of our commitments?

What Dr. Allen Morgan and Dr. Douglas Rabin (reproductive medicine physicians) found is “what is not widely known is that stress also has a detrimental impact on fertility. Women who are constantly under stress produce prolactin, cortisol, and other hormones, which can interfere with or even block regular ovulation.”.

    Question:

    Dear Hethir,
I have PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) and I was wondering what I can take to help me ovulate more regularly. I did one IVF cycle but was in a lot of pain, so I am taking a few months off from doing IVF and wanted to know what I should use.
    Thank you!

    Hethir’s Answer:

You wrote me that question at the perfect time. I will be doing an interview on Thursday specifically about PCOS. Please look for that interview to be premiered, but till then here are four more tips:
