Endometriosis

With endometriosis there is a lot of inflammation and pain. A smart plan to reduce and heal endometriosis would be to reduce inflammation, promote circulation, reduce pain, promote hormonal balance, support proper immune response, work to reduce excess tissue growth with astringent and toning herbs.

  • Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera): Supports overall endocrine system function. Supports proper immune response, aids in possible autoimmune fertility issues.
  • Bee Propolis: Bee Propolis is a resinous mixture of tree sap, tree buds, tree leaves and other botanical sources that the bees make to seal small openings in their hives. A study published in Fertility and Sterility (2003;80:S32) showed that 60% of women with endometriosis related infertility who took 500mg of bee propolis twice a day for 9 months became pregnant as opposed to 20% in the placebo group.     I’ve been taking – Vitex, Biotin, Maca, Milk Thistle, Prenatal, Black Cohosh, and Red Raspberry leaf consistently for the past 3 months and am seeing a big change in my hormones and finally getting a shorter cycle (We’ve gone from 51 days to 43 days so hoping this next cycle will be even shorter and more on track) — Is it ok to continue to take all of these together long term? I’m seeing great affects and feeling good, but wasn’t sure if I should have an worries about taking them long term :D I was also thinking about adding Damiana to the mix.

      Hello Renee!

      I am so happy you are seeing results in your cycle and hormone balance! This is great!

      Vitex, Maca, Milk Thistle, and Red Raspberry leaf, as well as a prenatal multivitamin can be taken long term in general 3-6 months prior to ttc. You could then consider weaning off and taking a break to see how your body responds… if has learned how to maintain balance on its own.

      A few particulars…
      - Vitex should be taken long-term. Clinical research shows that vitex may start working within 10 days, but full benefits may not be experienced until 6 months of use or longer.
      - Black cohosh on the other hand should not be taken long term. Black cohosh should only be used for up to 6 months.
      - I can not speak to the use of Biotin. It would be best to ask the maker of the supplement you are taking.
      - Damiana can be used as needed to support libido and female sex drive. It may not be necessary to take in consistently for extended periods of time. Only you can judge that need.

  2. I notice that when I used Nettle after I found out about my missed-miscarriage I didn’t miscarry right away and it went on 3 weeks before I actually had the loss. I read that nettle is helpful in preventing miscarriage so once I figured that out I stopped drinking it so the miscarriage would happen because my baby had already died. Then when I began using it as part of a tea to support my womb so we could try again it would make my periods come late. So I stopped using it this cycle and my period was right on time. Why is this happening?

      I am so sorry for your loss!

      I have never heard of nettle delaying miscarriage. It is important to remember that the body is going through a lot of confusion when miscarrying… hormones are all out of whack. For some the process can take a bit longer to happen naturally. Nettle is nutritive and some even refer to it as “nature’s multivitamin.” It could be that the iron content of the nettle supplement you were taking slowed bleeding a bit because iron does this, but I can’t be certain.

      It may be that it is just not the right herb for you.

      You can take Vitex and Maca root together. Maca is actually a food. It is eaten in Peru as a staple in many diets. While we support its use as an adaptogen for hormone balance and energy, it is a food first. Vitex and Maca do not counteract, rather compliment each other.

    I’m venturing into the natural fertility route, but am nervous for some reason about taking so many herbs at one time. Is there a limit to how many herbs you can take? Is there any research on herbs reacting with each other? Or is it just a problem with herbs reacting with certain prescribed medications? Thank you!

      I am glad you are asking questions, as that is so important when it comes to your health! You don’t have to take “so many herbs”, sometimes all that is needed is one herbal formula that combines herbs at lower dosages to work toward a common goal. Our FertiliCare blends are one example.       I am sorry to hear of your loss! No matter how long ago it was, I see it is still challenging you, so I am sorry for that. Yes, there is something you can do to help you figure out what may be causing your difficulties in becoming pregnant again!

      1. Are you sure your other fallopian tube is open? Ectopic pregnancy often happens due to a blockage in the fallopian tube, is it possible your remaining fallopian tube may be damaged?

      2. Women with only 1 fallopian tube typically only have one chance at getting pregnant every other month. This is because the ovaries take turns each cycle. The right side ovulates one cycle, the left the next cycle and so on. This means you only have a chance every other cycle to achieve pregnancy and if you aren’t trying during your most fertile time, you are missing your chance for not only that cycle, but possibly the next as well. Learn how to chart your cycle and see if you can detect ovulation pains on one side or the other.   12. Hi. I have several questions:
    1. I am almost 40 and we haven’t been preventing pregnancy for close to 8 yrs now, and are really wanting to have more children. I do have a cyst on one of my ovaries and a fibroid tumor. I also had been told a few years ago that I have a small cyst on my liver. My periods haven’t been on target, and the one that started today was very late, considering I was expecting to start around the 11th of this month. I was wanting to try the herbs to see if they would help with ovulation and pregnancy, but can’t spend alot of money on this, so need help with narrowing it down to 1 or 2 that will be the most beneficial.
    2. Also, my hubby is epileptic, and the med he takes can damage his liver (prob already has), so also looking for the best herb that could help the both of us with our liver function (maybe even cleansing our liver?)
